Five Taiwanese OEMs to Join Intel's MID Alliance

Intel announced on April 18 that five Taiwanese OEMs (Original Design Manufacture), namely Asus, BenQ, Compal, Elektrobit, HTC, Inventec, and Quanta have been included into its MID (Mobile Internet Device) Innovation Alliance. This organization is formed to solve problems concerning power consumption, wireless communications, and software integration in UMPCs. These companies are expected to launch UMPCs based on a Menlow platform and features 45nm technology in the first half of 2008.
